Beihai, China

Beihai City, alias "Pearl City", is a prefecture-level city in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Beihai is an important port of departure of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, one of the earliest foreign treaty ports of China, and one of the main commodity distribution centers for Yunnan-Guizhou, Sichuan, Guangxi, Hunan, Hubei and other provinces to trade with overseas countries. Beihai is the only coastal city in western China included in the first group of 14 cities to further open to the outside world. It is also the only city in western China with deep-water seaport, all-weather airport, high-speed railway and expressway. The pearl produced in Beihai is called Nanzhu. It is famous at home and abroad for its dignified and firm, large and round, glittering and translucent, and long-lasting luster. It has the reputation of "West pearl is inferior to East pearl, and East pearl is inferior to South pearl".
